Our Mission
Queer Bozeman connects, strengthens, and advances the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the greater Gallatin Valley of Montana while working to understand and challenge systems of oppression.
Our Vision
A world where queers of diverse experiences live authentically and are valued, empowered, and thriving.
How It Started
Queer Bozeman is a coming together of individuals and organizations to support queer community-building. Queer and trans folks have always been in Montana and Bozeman, since before the land was called a state. From drag performers raising money for mutual aid to organizers fighting for rights through the state and local governments to friends seeing the need for regular, welcoming social events geared toward belonging.
Queer besties Sara Freedwoman and Chris Coburn established Queer Bozeman as a central hub for our community in 2022.
The first board brought ten people together in the spring of 2023. Together, we are crafting a nonprofit structure and vision to last into the future. Queer Bozeman connects members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the Bozeman area by both hosting our own and promoting others’ events, sharing news, and partnering with like-minded organizations and groups. Queer Bozeman is, and will always be, welcoming of individuals of all races, ages, genders, sexualities, and abilities.
